Diesen Titel – inzwischen besprochen vom AP – Biographen Michael Barber im Newsletter 90 der APSoc, S. 22 – mit dem Untertitel ‚Oxford between the wars‘ hat die Autorin Daisy Dunn für ihr ebenso unterhaltsames wie lehrreiches Buch, das sich im Wesentlichen um die drei ‚Classicist‘ – Professoren Gilbert Murray, Maurice Bowra und E.R. Dodds dreht, ausgewählt (eine etwas launige Besprechung von AP – Biograph Michael Barber findet sich im AP Newsletter der APSoc Nr. 90). Damit suggeriert sie eine atmosphärische Nähe zu Evelyn Waughs ‚Brideshead revisited‘, dessen BBC – Verfilmung in Castle Howard stattgefunden hat, dem Sitz der Schwiegereltern von Murray. Auch Anthony Powell wird – neben vielen anderen, Virginia Woolf, Evelyn Waugh, John Betjemen, Cyril Connoly, Vera Brittain, Dorothy Sayers &c. &c. – ausgiebig erwähnt und zitiert, etwa mit seiner Beschreibung des von Maurice Bowra und dessen ‚Immoral Front‘ vermittelten Lebensgefühls:
