«Widmerpudlians with a passing interest in sporting matters may – or may not – like to be alerted to the fact that, on p. 109 of ‘White on Green – Celebrating the Drama of Pakistan Cricket’, by R. Heller and P.Oborne, published by Simon & Schuster in 2016, a former Pakistani Test cricketer, and subsequently President of the Board of Control of the sport in that country, one Ijaz Butt by name, is there described as ‘the Widmerpool of Pakistan cricket’.»
